Things in jars

It’s been a bit quiet on the crafting front, as I’m working to finish up some project deadlines, but in the meantime, it’s been a good couple weeks for mason jars around here.

There have been cucumber mint cocktails for picnics in the park,

iced coconut lime green tea for sunny afternoons,

homemade butter from local cream (which is so good that I’m holding off on making a second batch. It takes me forever to use a store bought stick of butter, but I found every excuse to use the homemade kind, and it was gone within the week),

and green smoothies that look like spinach and taste like strawberry. Mmm.

Other things made, but not pictured, have been batches of maple bourbon barbecue sauce, which is my secret weapon in convincing other people to grill for me this summer, and cold brewed iced coffee, a newfound obsession.

I’m waiting not-so-patiently for some free time for the crafty ideas in my head. I have big plans!

You are not the only one who has been cold brewing ice coffee, it’s one of my favorite things to do in the summer though I wish I had a larger mason jar/pitcher to hold it instead of my little travel mug mason jars 🙂

  2. I LOVE your photography, M.! I might have mentioned when I saw you last week at R.’sY. that I am using only my iPod for a camera; maybe a more gifted photographer would be able to coax much more out of it than I can, but, in the meantime I revel in the standards set by those who are working with more experience & better tools so, thank you & MEOW to your precious girlie!

    1. I am intrigued, confused and flattered by this comment! I’m not sure who this is, but I know that I should… And thank you for the picture compliments. I’m mostly using my Droid phone, cause that’s the best I have right now, but I try to be mindful of the composition, so it doesn’t come across as “cell phone”. Enlighten me!

Oh, oh! Wait! Is this my favorite customer who buys buttons and wears the best and brightest tights?? Hello!!

  3. I’m now going to become an avid follower of your blog, and I love all of your jars! Where do you get your jars because I want some that look antique like as opposed to store bought. Hope all is well! – Kay

    1. Hi Kay! And thanks! I get most of my jars at the hardware store near my house. It’s the kind where everything’s all jumbled together, and they have a small housewares section that carries an odd assortment of different sizes. For real vintage ones, I’ve found them at flea markets. I only use them for home decor and not food, though, cause the lids are different (so they can’t be replaced) and I don’t think I’d trust them.

  4. Wow, a hardware store, I would never have guessed that. Thanks for the tip!
